Crunchyroll is set to revolutionize its anime-focused platform by launching “Crunchyroll Manga” on October 9, integrating a massive library of premier manga titles directly into its existing streaming service. By consolidating works from various publishers under one roof, the service aims to become the primary hub for fans eager to follow hits like One Piece without juggling multiple subscriptions.

A New Destination for Manga Readers
While the digital manga market is already populated with various reading services, Crunchyroll’s massive existing subscriber base gives it a distinct competitive advantage. The platform’s ability to bundle manga access with its video streaming service offers a level of convenience that few competitors can match, streamlining the experience for fans who want to stay current with the industry’s most popular ongoing series.
Sony’s Dominance and the Demon Slayer Factor
This expansion marks another strategic milestone for Crunchyroll, which has solidified its industry dominance since being acquired by Sony and absorbing the rival service Funimation in 2020. The platform continues to capitalize on the massive global success of Demon Slayer, which has played a pivotal role in driving the service to new heights.
The anticipation surrounding the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle film trilogy remains at an all-time high following the record-breaking performance of Part 1. Addressing the timeline for the subsequent releases, Crunchyroll CEO Rahul Purini noted the collaborative efforts currently underway.
“We’ve announced that it will be a trilogy of movies, but our partners at Aniplex and Ufotable haven’t decided on dates yet,” Purini explained in a recent interview. “But look, there’s definitely urgency for all of us to bring more Demon Slayer to fans as soon as we can—because we know the urgency is there among the fan base.”
