Deadlock has officially expanded its roster with Celeste, a floaty, carnival-themed spirit nuker arriving as the fifth hero in the “Old Gods, New Blood” update. Joining the game following a community-led voting process, Celeste brings a highly mobile playstyle and an ultimate ability that is already triggering “Dota 2 war flashbacks” for veteran players.

A Master of Mobility and Spirit Damage
Celeste stands out for her agility and unique movement mechanics. Equipped with four stamina pips, she excels at air-strafing and zipping across the map with a floaty traversal style reminiscent of high-speed shooters like Titanfall. Her kit is designed for players who prioritize positioning and chaining spirit damage to overwhelm opponents.

Breaking Down Celeste’s Kit
Celeste’s abilities focus on aggressive trading and sustained damage:
- Light Eater: A cone-based attack that provides spirit lifesteal and buffs Celeste’s weapon damage, making it a primary choice for early-game trades.
- Dazzling Trick: A self-applied defensive utility that grants movement speed and triggers a silencing explosion when destroyed, providing surprising durability during laning phases.
- Radiant Daggers: An AoE skill that deals spirit damage and grants Celeste a stacking damage buff for every enemy hero caught within it, rewarding precise placement.
- Shining Wonder: Her ultimate ability. This projectile bounces between enemy heroes, dealing significant spirit damage, applying a slow, and reducing dash distance. At max rank, it can reach up to 18 bounces, making it a nightmare for tightly packed teams.
The Dota 2 Connection
The mechanics of Shining Wonder have drawn immediate comparisons to Lich’s ultimate from Dota 2. Much like that infamous ability, Celeste’s ultimate punishes poor positioning, forcing players to remain spread out or risk being shredded by the bouncing orb of doom. Her arrival marks a significant shift in the current meta as players adjust to her oppressive presence in team fights.
With Celeste now in the game, the “Old Gods, New Blood” update prepares for its final addition: Apollo. Players can still participate in the ongoing voting process for the final hero, who is expected to round out the lineup as a dedicated melee duelist.
