Amazon officially launched a redesigned Fire TV mobile app on Thursday, transforming the tool from a basic remote into a comprehensive content discovery hub. Users can now browse media, manage their watchlists remotely, and initiate playback directly on their TVs using their smartphones.
Turning Smartphones Into Second Screens
“The updated app turns smartphones into a second screen for discovering what to watch next, making it easy to add a friend’s show recommendation to a watchlist even when away from home,” Amazon stated. The company emphasized that this integration aims to provide a more flexible and convenient viewing experience, allowing users to find content faster than before.
The update is currently rolling out globally, covering the U.S., Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, and the U.K.

UI Alignment and Enhanced Navigation
This mobile redesign mirrors the new Fire TV interface launched last month, which prioritizes content-first navigation. The updated UI features rounded corners, consistent typography, and optimized spacing, providing a cleaner look that accommodates more pinned applications.
The navigation bar has been streamlined with clear iconography for Movies, TV, Live TV, Sports, and News. Additionally, the search function has been relocated for easier access, positioned prominently to the left of the Home tab.
Personalized Content Discovery
Within these navigation tabs, Fire TV now surfaces a “For You” section. This area organizes currently watched content alongside tailored recommendations from subscribed services. The interface also highlights free movies, trending shows, and other paid content based on user preferences.
These updates respond to the current streaming landscape, where the sheer volume of available content makes navigation difficult. By evolving into a discovery hub rather than a simple app launcher, Fire TV aims to help users manage the complexity of modern streaming services more effectively.
