During a Q&A session at FAN EXPO Dallas 2025, DC star John Cena proposed a potential crossover that would bridge the gap between the DC Universe and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, suggesting he could bring his character, Peacemaker, into the MCU if the two studios ever decided to collaborate.
Bridging the Superhero Divide
The rivalry between DC and Marvel fandoms is legendary, often overshadowing the fact that many comic book enthusiasts simply want to see the two worlds collide. When a young fan at FAN EXPO Dallas asked if Cena would ever consider joining the MCU, the 17-time WWE Heavyweight Champion addressed the current divide while hinting at future possibilities.
While Cena clarified that he hasn’t been cast in any Marvel projects, he expressed a strong desire for the industry to move toward a more cooperative future. He stated, “I would love Iron Man to shake hands with Superman. I would love to see all superheroes across all platforms be involved in a universe. So, if that happens and I get my wish as a member of the DC[U], I would essentially walk into the MCU.”
Is a DC/Marvel Crossover Actually Possible?
Though a crossover might currently feel like a pipe dream, the relationship between the two studios has evolved. Marvel boss Kevin Feige has publicly advocated for the success of DC films, emphasizing that healthy competition is vital for the health of the moviegoing experience. Similarly, while DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has previously critiqued Disney’s production output, he has since noted that the industry is moving past the “sacrifice-everything-for-streaming” era.
History also supports the idea of a partnership. Since the landmark 1976 Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man crossover, the two comic book giants have occasionally set aside their differences. If Batman and Spider-Man can share the page, the prospect of Peacemaker potentially stepping into Avengers Tower remains a fun, if ambitious, thought experiment. Ultimately, such a move would rely on leadership from Feige and Gunn to prioritize a massive, industry-shifting collaboration.
