Swedish automaker Polestar announced a strategic roadmap to launch four new electric vehicles over the next three years, aiming to capitalize on recent sales momentum while stabilizing its financial position. The expansion plan includes a high-performance grand tourer, a revamped estate variant, a successor to the iconic Polestar 2, and a new compact premium SUV.
Aggressive Expansion Amid Financial Challenges
The company, backed by China’s Geely, is moving to scale its lineup following a strong 2025 performance. Polestar reported 60,119 units sold in 2025—a 34 percent increase over the previous year. Despite a 49 percent surge in revenue to $2.17 billion during the first nine months of 2025, the automaker still posted a net loss of $1.558 billion. Geely continues to provide critical financial support through equity investments and loan guarantees as Polestar shifts its focus toward cost-efficient model updates and high-growth segments to shrink its deficit.

The Upcoming EV Lineup
The rollout begins this summer with the arrival of the Polestar 5. This “brand halo” grand tourer is engineered to compete at the luxury level, featuring an 800-volt charging architecture, 884 horsepower, and a 460-mile range. The Performance trim is capable of hitting 0-60mph in just 3.1 seconds, with a starting price expected to exceed $120,000.
In the fourth quarter of this year, Polestar will introduce a long-roof “estate” version of the Polestar 4. By blending the versatility of an SUV with the aesthetic and utility of a traditional Swedish station wagon, the company aims to better serve the European market.
Reviving the Polestar 2 and Targeting Mass Segments
After halting orders for the original Polestar 2, the company confirmed that a next-generation successor is already in development. CEO Michael Longscheller stated that teams are working at “record speed” to bring the updated model to production by early 2027.
The final piece of the current expansion strategy is the Polestar 7, a compact premium SUV slated for 2028. Designed specifically to tackle the most competitive EV segment in Europe, the Polestar 7 is intended to offer a high-performance, progressive driving experience at a competitive price point, with production confirmed to take place within Europe.
