Slavic Magic and publisher Hooded Horse are set to overhaul the economic landscape of Manor Lords in 2026, introducing a sophisticated trading system that allows players to establish resource monopolies and engage in direct economic warfare against rival lords.

Expanding Burgage Plots and Progression
Following a significant update in December 2025 that revamped castle construction and core systems, the development team is shifting focus to housing and early-game balance. A new upgrade level for Burgage Plots is currently in the works, designed to bridge the gap between early and late-game homesteads.
In tandem with this addition, Slavic Magic is considering rebalancing workshop progressions. By tying baker and cobbler extensions to level 3 plots, the developers aim to encourage players to utilize the communal oven and manage resources more strategically throughout their settlement’s growth.
The Future of Economic Warfare
The most ambitious planned change involves a complete rework of the game’s trading mechanics. Instead of static income, trade routes will soon be tied to specific geographic locations, each offering varying prices that fluctuate based on demand and regional availability.

Under the proposed system, each trade route will support a limited number of merchants. Players must hire these merchants to facilitate trade, and if all slots on a specific route are filled, rival lords can attempt a buyout. This mechanic effectively transforms trade routes from passive income sources into highly contested economic territory.
Establishing Monopolies and Diplomatic Leverage
This new dynamic opens the door for aggressive economic strategies. By hiring all available merchants on routes exporting essential goods like Iron Slabs, a player could theoretically corner the market. This forces rivals to either pay inflated prices, seek out new resource-rich regions, or negotiate directly with the monopolist.
Such a system could pave the way for complex diplomatic interactions, where players trade surplus weapons or goods in exchange for access to controlled resources. Slavic Magic and Hooded Horse are currently soliciting community feedback on these concepts, eager to determine if this competitive approach adds the desired depth to the game’s management simulation.
