Executive producer Ben Stiller and star Adam Scott have officially teased the potential for the Severance universe to grow beyond the small screen, with plans for both television spin-offs and a dedicated video game currently under consideration.
From Lumon to Console: The Gaming Potential
Following the cliffhanger conclusion of Severance season two, which left Innie Mark (Adam Scott) and Innie Helly (Britt Lower) facing an uncertain fate, the creative team is looking toward new mediums. In a recent feature with Variety, both Stiller and Scott expressed genuine enthusiasm for a Severance video game. Stiller noted that it would “be great to have” an official title, a sentiment echoed by Scott, who believes the show’s unique mechanics “lend themselves to one.”
The appetite for such a project is already evident among fans. Last year, a dedicated enthusiast developed a fan-made game titled Lumon, which recreated the mundane yet unsettling macrodata refinement tasks seen in the series. Additionally, a separate simulator launched on Steam earlier this year, proving that the show’s aesthetic and premise are ripe for interactive adaptation.
Beyond the Office: Exploring Spin-Off Possibilities
While a video game remains a possibility, Stiller confirmed that the narrative scope of the show could extend through television spin-offs. “There are two specific ideas — that I won’t tell you — that we’ve talked about internally as possible spinoff ideas,” Stiller revealed, signaling that the creative team is actively exploring the depths of the show’s lore.
The production team has historically been committed to expanding the Severance universe beyond the main series. In 2022, they released The Lexington Letter, a prequel short story that provided critical context regarding Lumon Industries employee Margaret “Peg” Kincaid and her struggle to expose the company’s dark secrets.
Given the show’s penchant for revealing its complex history through a non-linear lens, a prequel series would align perfectly with the current storytelling trajectory. While fans wait for official confirmation on either a game or a spin-off, the online community continues to dissect every breadcrumb left by the series in anticipation of what comes next.
