Capcom officially announced that Resident Evil Requiem has surpassed 6 million units sold worldwide, cementing its status as the fastest-selling title in the franchise’s history.
A Record-Breaking Success
Despite the immense pressure surrounding the game’s launch, Resident Evil Requiem has proven to be an absolute hit with both critics and players. Capcom confirmed the milestone in a recent Investor Relations press release, highlighting that the title reached this sales figure faster than any previous entry in the storied series.

This achievement comes as little surprise given the game’s reception. Resident Evil Requiem currently holds an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam. Upon its debut, the game saw a massive influx of players, drawing in 270,000 concurrent users within the first two hours—a record for the franchise—before eventually reaching an impressive peak of 344,214 players.
Future Content and Ongoing Support
Capcom is committed to maintaining the game’s momentum. The company stated that it plans to implement several measures, including ongoing support and additional content, to ensure players remain engaged with the title for the long term.
Director Koshi Nakanishi has already confirmed that new features, such as a dedicated photo mode and a new minigame, are scheduled to arrive this May. Furthermore, development on additional DLC is already underway. Nakanishi has asked for patience from the community regarding the expansion, noting that the team is working diligently to deliver high-quality content.
The Road to the 30th Anniversary
Looking further ahead, the company is preparing for a significant milestone: the 30th anniversary of the Resident Evil series on March 22, 2026. To celebrate, Capcom has unveiled plans for various events, including a collaboration between Universal Studios Japan and Resident Evil Requiem. Additionally, fans can look forward to a series of orchestral concerts scheduled to take place across Japan, the United States, and Europe.
