Hollywood icons Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone are officially developing a solo feature film centered on the legendary Miss Piggy, marking the fashion-forward icon’s first standalone movie in her five-decade career.

The Creative Powerhouse Behind the Project
The news broke during a candid appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast, hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers. Jennifer Lawrence, known for her roles in The Hunger Games and X-Men, revealed the surprise project during the interview. “I don’t know if I can announce this, but I’m just going to. Emma Stone and I are producing a Miss Piggy movie, and Cole Escola is writing it,” Lawrence stated.
While specific plot details remain under wraps, Lawrence hinted at a potential on-screen appearance for herself and Stone, noting, “I think so, we have to.” The choice of writer adds significant buzz to the project, as comedian and playwright Cole Escola has recently surged in popularity following the massive success of their Broadway production, Oh, Mary!
A Long-Awaited Solo Debut
Despite being a cultural staple since her debut on The Muppet Show in 1976, Miss Piggy has never headlined her own feature film. This development comes as the Muppets franchise continues to evolve, having recently celebrated its 70-year anniversary. As of now, Disney and The Jim Henson Company have yet to issue an official statement regarding the spin-off.
The Expanding Muppets Universe
This project is part of a broader resurgence for the Muppets. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Seth Rogen is spearheading a reboot of The Muppet Show. Additionally, Disney is reportedly preparing a special starring Sabrina Carpenter, currently slated for a 2026 release to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the original television series.
