EA has launched a massive franchise sale featuring deep discounts of up to 85% on the entire Dead Space series, including the critically acclaimed 2023 remake, available for just $9 until March 16.
Is the Dead Space Remake Worth It?
The 2023 remake by EA Motive is undoubtedly the highlight of the sale. Dropping from its original $60 price point to just $9 (£7.50), it offers a stunning, Frostbite-powered recreation of the survival horror classic. Beyond the visual overhaul, the remake introduces significant gameplay improvements, such as full voice acting for Isaac Clarke, fluid Zero-G traversal mechanics inspired by Dead Space 2, and the visceral Necromorph “peeling” system, which makes combat—especially with the Force Gun—incredibly satisfying.
Exploring the Rest of the Trilogy
While the remake stands out, the legacy titles are also heavily discounted. Dead Space 2, despite not receiving a modern overhaul, remains a masterclass in action-horror and is available for $4 (£3.60). Dead Space 3 is also priced at $4; while it lacks the atmosphere of its predecessors, it serves as a functional co-op action experience. The original 2008 Dead Space is listed at $8 (£7.20), though the remake largely renders it obsolete for most players due to its superior mechanics and fidelity.

The Future of the Dead Space Franchise
These discounts arrive amidst uncertainty regarding the series’ future. Despite the success of the remake, EA rejected a pitch for a fourth entry in 2024. The publisher has recently shifted its focus heavily toward its sports titles, evidenced by recent layoffs across its development studios, including those working on Battlefield and Skate. While fans may hope that strong sales could reignite interest in a Dead Space 2 remake or a sequel, EA’s current strategic direction suggests that the franchise may remain dormant for the foreseeable future.
