FX has unveiled the first full trailer for Alien: Earth, a chilling sci-fi horror series set to premiere on August 12, 2025, that explores the catastrophic origins of humanity’s first encounter with extraterrestrial life on our home planet.
A Prequel Rooted in Cinematic Dread
The series serves as a prequel to the original Alien films, effectively proving that humanity’s curiosity is its own worst enemy. Set in 2120—two years before the events of the seminal 1979 classic—the narrative kicks off when an unidentified spacecraft crash-lands in Prodigy City. The trailer introduces Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin), the CEO of a mysterious corporation, whose desperate pursuit of the ship’s cargo sets the stage for a global nightmare.
New Nightmares and Synthetic Horrors
The wreckage reveals that the vessel is carrying five distinct, lethal lifeforms from the deepest reaches of space. Among these are creatures bearing a striking resemblance to the predatory, jellyfish-like entities found in gaming lore. The footage features a gruesome sequence where one alien uses powerful tentacles to eviscerate a victim’s eyes before seizing control of their motor functions. This visceral terror is juxtaposed with the series’ more cerebral sci-fi elements, such as the plight of Wendy, a sick child whose consciousness is transferred into an adult synthetic body portrayed by Sydney Chandler.
Noah Hawley’s New Vision for the Alien Universe
Following a series of cryptic teasers, this trailer confirms that showrunner Noah Hawley (known for Fargo and Legion) is pushing the franchise into uncharted territory. By introducing five unique alien species, the series promises to unveil extraterrestrial abominations that have never been seen in the history of the Alien franchise.
Alien: Earth is scheduled to arrive on FX and Hulu on August 12. If the intensity of this trailer is any indication, the show is poised to be one of the most suspenseful and terrifying television events of 2025.
