Developer Funday Games is set to launch the first major expansion for Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor on April 30, introducing the “Demolisher”—the franchise’s first-ever new playable class—which pilots a weaponized bulldozer capable of crushing both terrain and alien hordes.

A New Way to Traverse Hoxxes
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor has cemented itself as a standout title in the autoshooter genre, successfully merging the core mining mechanics of the original Deep Rock Galactic with the addictive power-scaling of Vampire Survivors. Following its successful launch, the team at Funday Games is expanding the experience with the “Heavy Duty” DLC.
The star of the update is undoubtedly the Demolisher. Departing from the traditional on-foot gameplay of other classes, this dwarf operates a heavy-duty Rock Dozer. This vehicle doesn’t just provide armor; it actively flattens the environment, allowing players to carve new paths through solid rock while simultaneously running over waves of hostile insects.

Customization and Arsenal Upgrades
While specific mechanical details remain under wraps, Funday Games has confirmed that the Demolisher will feature three distinct class mods: Contractor, Gridrunner, and Operator. These specializations are designed to cater to different playstyles, focusing respectively on mining output, battlefield mobility, and machinery efficiency.
The “Heavy Duty” expansion doesn’t stop at just one class. Players can look forward to an influx of 10 new weapons available to all classes. The roster includes elemental-focused hardware, such as the electrically charged arc burster and the fiery dragonstorm incinerator, alongside tactical automated gear like the chainlinked slither drone.
What’s Next for Survivor?
Beyond the confirmed content, the expansion’s Steam page hints at further surprises, noting that there are “two major, unannounced features” still waiting to be revealed. While pricing for the DLC has not yet been finalized, the release date is locked for April 30. For those looking to dive into the base game before the expansion drops, it is currently available at a 30% discount until March 18.
